A Word on Privacy from Our Management

Gigiid place data privacy at the guts of what it does. We fully welcome the California Consumer Privacy Act of 2018 (the “CCPA”) and its aims to provide greater control to individuals over their personal information, in conjunction with enhancing transparency as to how this information is used.

What is CCPA?

On June 28, 2018, Governor Brown signed Assembly Bill 375, now referred to as the California Consumer Privacy Act of 2018, which grants consumers new rights concerning the gathering of their personal information. The Bill, which comes into effect on January 1, 2020, is meant to reinforce privacy rights and consumer protection for residents of California.

Who is affected by the CCPA?

Regarding our website,  persons affected by the CCPA are those California citizens whose personal information is being collected and utilized in our business. Parties include job-seekers who registered themselves on our service, active and inactive employers who use or have used our services and prospective employers who haven’t previously used our services but may do so in the future.

We have chosen to embrace the tenets of CCPA country-wide and apply them to users across us.

Which types of data can be classified to be “personal information”? 

“Personal information” is defined as anything that identifies, relates to, describes, is capable of being related to, or might be reasonably linked, directly or indirectly, with a specific consumer or household. Such data may include personal identifiers sort as a name, location, links to online presence, contact information like phone numbers or email addresses, or photos.

How should companies connect with their users on the idea of data privacy? 

Organizations now have to inform consumers on the categories of private information to be collected and therefore the purposes that the categories of private information shall be used, at or before the point of collection. Likewise, the CCPA requires all organizations collecting personal information include in their online privacy pages an outline of a consumer’s rights and two or more designated methods for users to submit access requests, including a toll-free phone number and an internet site address. 

What rights do individuals have under CCPA?

The CCPA ensures the following rights for Californians:

(1) the proper way to understand what personal information is being collected about them.

(2) the proper to understand whether their personal information is sold or disclosed and to whom.

(3) the proper to opt-out of the sale of their personal information.

(4) The right to access their personal information.

(5) the proper to equal service and price, albeit they exercise their privacy rights.

What are we doing to prepare for CCPA?

As per the transparency precepts of CCPA, we are ensuring that:

Information is communicated in a clear way that’s understood by professionals and clients who use our services.

We transparently show how we collate and store personal information.

The personal information we hold is accessible should we be asked to supply evidence to processing data in compliance with CCPA.

What is our data minimization policy?

We will only hold personal information that’s necessary to supply the services found on us. Any personal information that is not required will either be anonymized to make it non-personal or deleted.
